These are the more pronounced possible changes that can take place in any combination if your child is experiencing sexual abuse.

1. Bedwetting

2. Significant change in school performance

3. Sexually transmitted diseases

4. Fears and phobias

5. Reluctance to be left alone with a particular person

6. Excessive masturbation

7. Acting more infantile

8. Bleeding or discharge from rectum or vagina

9. Sore or swollen genital areas

10. Stained underpants

11. Pain on urination

12. Age inappropriate knowledge of sexual matters

13. Running away

14. Self destructive behavior

These signs are not in and of themselves, conclusive evidence that your child was, or is being, sexually abused. They must be looked at in conjunction with other behaviors and factors.

Keep in mind that any unusual negative behaviors are symptoms of something that is happening in the life of your child or teen and you cannot afford to overlook or minimize the fact that they need help of some kind. ALWAY error on the side of your child.
